SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — The Shelby County Health Department is working to contain an outbreak of measles.

Six people have been confirmed to have contracted the virus.

Because measles is highly contagious, the health department released a list of places measles patients visited and could have possibly spread the illness.

See the list here.

The department urges you to check your immunization status if you were at any of the listed places at the specific times.

If you are not sure you are immune, the department recommends you avoid public places and stay home for 21 days since the date of possible exposure. Be alert for measles symptoms, such as fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a rash that starts a few days after the fever.
