MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The National Weather Service has extended a Heat Advisory for the entire Mid-South until 7 p.m. Saturday.
The heat index is expected to be between 105 to 109 degrees increasing the risk of a heat stroke or dehydration for those outside or without air conditioning.
The Benjamin Hooks Central Library on Poplar Avenue will be open 24 hours a day until Monday to give people a place to go and cool off.
During the day, cooling centers will be available at all branch libraries, community centers and most shopping centers.
If you do have to be outside here are the warning signs of heat exhaustion: fatigue, nausea, aches and pains, weakness and dizziness.
If ignore those warnings it could turn into a heat stroke which includes the same symptoms plus hot, flushed dry skin, less sweating, shortness of breath and even loss of consciousness.
You must see a doctor if these symptoms develop.
