Helena-West Helena officials issue boil water order for Helena

HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. – Helena-West Helena officials have issued a boil water order for Helena.

Mayor Kevin Smith says they are issuing the order due to “extreme loss” of water pressure following this week’s winter storms. The mayor posted updates on the water pressure issues in Helena Saturday morning.


Smith says the boil water order will not be lifted until the Arkansas Department of Health, which Smith says could take several days as the lab tests the water.

The order affects Helena residents only. Officials say no contamination has been found at this time.

Smith says the city will be posting updates on its website. Officials are asking Helena residents to conserve water as much as possible.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the following tips for customers under a boil water advisory:

Handwashing

Bathing and showering

Brushing teeth

Washing dishes

Laundry

Cleaning

Caring for pets

Caring for your garden and houseplants
