MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Hundreds of children need your help to have a Merry Christmas this year, and time is running out.
The Salvation Army said it’s in dire need of people to take names from their Angel Trees and provide gifts for needy kids and senior citizens.
Barbara Tillery with the Salvation Army cannot remember how many angels were left around this time last year, but she said it was no where near this many.
Their goal is to get gifts for 5,000 kids and seniors
Time to help is quickly running out.
They want to deliver the gifts on December 19.
“We’re taking about getting all toys in by the 14 of December, and so we’re talking about ten days out,” said Tillery.
That means there are only five days for you to pick an angel and buy presents.
Volunteer Peggy Duke said there are several places you can go to get an angel.
“You can come to Oak Court, Wolfchase, Carrefour.”
“We’ve got older children who typically don’t get pulled from the trees as quickly as the babies,” Tillery added.
Even if you only have a little extra this Christmas, Duke said you can still make a big difference for someone in need.
“I just can’t imagine waking up on Christmas and not having anything. So, if you’re blessed and your children have always had a good Christmas, come get an angel and bless someone else this Christmas.”
