MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Former Shelby County Commissioner Henri Brooks entered a guilty plea Tuesday involving the residence she put down on election paperwork.
Brooks entered and Alford plea for falsifying election documents, which means she maintains her innocence but understand the prosecution has enough evidence to convict her.
Brooks reported she lived at a home on Crump within the District 2 boundaries.
It turned out, she was living in Cordova, which is out of her district.
However, an investigation by the county attorney found that she actually lived in a Cordova home with her daughter. County attorney Marcy Ingram ruled that Brooks had to forfeit her seat on the County Commission. Brooks sued, however, and Ingram’s ruling was overturned.
After leaving the commission, Brooks lost a bid for Juvenile Court Clerk.
