(Memphis) The winter storm that’s blowing across the country could threaten your holiday travel plans.

The deadly storm is plowing through the Midwest. It’s hitting the Southeast just before Thanksgiving and making it harder for you to see your family.

Memphis International Airport says while the weather hasn’t affected flights leaving the city, other airports are seeing delayed, even canceled, flights.

“It’s very unpredictable as to how the impacts will be felt at any point,” said Scott Brockman, Chief Operating Officer at Memphis International. “While we don’t expect any issues with operating here, other locations that could affect us.”

Brockman says around 10,000 people will pass through Memphis International this week.

Shanyra Peeples is one of them.

“I’m going to Ohio,” said Peeples. “It’s going to be snowing there, so I am hoping there are no delays.”

Already, more than 300 flights were canceled at Dallas Fort-Worth International.

The storm is slow-moving, and  couple of degrees could determine whether there’s rain, sleet or snow.

“My aunt has already called and been like, ‘There’s a rain storm going on! I hope you don’t get stormed in!'” said traveler Snanther Patterson.

A couple of degrees can turn holiday joy into a holiday disaster.

“I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best,” said Peeples.

Memphis Airport Authority said they are on standby incase the runway freezes over Monday night.

Travel experts say if you’re flying this week, continue to check in with your airline. They will have the most up-to-date and accurate flight schedule.
