TORRANCE, Cali. — Honda admits it failed to report 1,700 injury and death claims to U.S. safety regulators over an 11-year period.
The unreported claims include one death and seven injuries linked to faulty Takata airbags.
Honda blames data entry and computer programming errors for the mistake.
Automakers are required to report any death or injury claims to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on a quarterly basis.
