Horn Lake Police say they stopped would-be arsonists

HORN LAKE, Miss. — Three Horn Lake men are in jail after police said an officer caught them trying to light someone’s car on fire.

David Johnson, Frederick Nabors, and Kendrick Wiggins are charged with felony conspiracy to commit arson after being arrested in the 2700 block of Meadowbrook Tuesday night.

Lt. Scott Evans with the Horn Lake Police Department said an officer stopped three would-be arsonists in a stroke of good timing and luck.

“It turned out that these guys were trying to get revenge for some kind of fight several months,” Evans said.

Evans said the officer saw the men running down the street and stopped them to investigate.

“There were accelerants found at the scene that were left behind,” Evans said.

Johnson is also charged with having a concealed weapon, and Nabors is charged with a DUI, because police said the trio tried to use a getaway car.

Evan said he is thankful the officer was so observant and thankful to have the three locked up.

“Sometimes the police get lucky and are in the right place at the right time. This was obviously one of those times,” he said.

Nabors and Wiggins are being held on $50,000 bonds. Johnson is held on a $10,000 bond.
