MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A housekeeper at an East Memphis hotel is off the job, accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of stuff from guests.
Shai Dunn is facing two counts of aggravated burglary.
Days ago, she was working as a housekeeper at the Crowne Plaza in East Memphis.
Over the holidays, a guest told police someone ransacked her room, taking all of her and her daughter’s unopened Christmas gifts.
She said their clothing, medicine, vitamins, hair care products and even their food was missing too. It all totaled close to $2,000.
Police said Dunn had access to all of the rooms. They said she wasn’t supposed to go in the victim’s room, and she eventually admitted to the crime.
No word on whether Dunn targeted the guest or if she had any help.
We couldn’t get answers to those questions either, because no one came to the door when we stopped by Dunn’s address listed on court records.
The Crowne Plaza never got back to us about their policies and procedures.
We do know the hotel gives background checks, but this is the first offense on Dunn’s record in Shelby County.
She is out on a $15,000 bond and is due in court January 11.
