(Memphis) If you are someone looking for a job, a Memphis employment agency is looking for people who are willing and ready to work this holiday season.

Every morning around 8 a.m., people are lining up outside of Pridestaff on Poplar Ave. hoping to land a temporary job that could turn into a permanent gig.

“I`m a hard-working man and willing to work,” said Babes Stevens, who has been unemployed for three years.

People are looking for work of any kind.

“What are you applying for today?” asked Reporter Sabrina Hall.

“A job,” said Stevens.

Pridestaff says it has a lot of those.

“So, the lines that you see out front has been daily for the last couple months and will continue for the next month,” said Jeremy Thacker, who owns the full-service employment agency.

Thacker says employers in Memphis, a distribution hub, are looking to fill 900 positions for the holiday season, “Forklift drivers, pick pack, shipping, warehouse workers.”

It’s the kind of gig one applicant recently landed.

“It means that my son can eat,” said Raykenza Campbell, who just started his warehouse job. “It means I can eat.”

“So, this is not just for the holiday season?” asked Hall.

“No. This is an all year round thing,” said Stevens.

And Thacker says these $8 to $15 dollar-an-hour temporary jobs could become permanent for some.

“It gives them an opportunity to go out into the workforce, prove themselves, show a good work ethic and the opportunity to go permanent with the company,” said Thacker.

People are lining up with that hope and motivation.

“I just want a job,” said Stevens. “I`m willing to work.”

If you are looking for work, call Pridestaff at 901-685-JOBS.
