Man wounded in shooting on Highway 385

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police need your help as they are looking for the gunmen responsible for shooting a man on Highway 385 on Sunday.

Traffic near the Ridgeway exit on 385 was backed up all the way to 240 on Sunday afternoon. At one point, it was at a standstill.

Memphis Police said they had to temporarily shut down 385 to carry out an investigation into yet another highway shooting.

“I don’t know what’s going on but something has to be done,” said Tamitha Bouey, a motorist.

Police said a man walked into St. Francis Hospital with a gunshot wound. He told the hospital staff that he had been shot on 385 eastbound and Ridgeway Road.

The news came as a shock to those who live in the area.

Bouey said incidents like this make her fear for her children’s safety.

“If they get in front of you or they feel like you’ve passed them, they will shoot you. They’ll pull their gun out and shoot in your car with your kids in the car. It’s dangerous out here,” said Bouey.

Police said the victim is going to be okay. At one point, they even expanded the search for evidence onto 240 near the Mount Moriah Exit.

This shooting comes just three days after another interstate shooting on 240 and 385 in East Memphis. Now Memphis has experienced at least 68 reported highway shootings.

“Stop the violence. Stop it. These kids are out here. They got to grow up. They can’t be out here in this mess,” said Bouey.

Police have not released any information regarding the suspect.
