MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Slushy ice has closed most area schools, but it’s also affecting government offices, public transit and flights Friday morning.
From 3 a.m. to 4 p.m. Memphis police have responded to just over 100 crashes across the city.
Since 3am, MPD has responded to 104 crashes across the city. Slow down and leave extra space between you and the next vehicle.

Goodman Road eastbound is completely shut down from Highway 51 to Interstate Boulevard until further notice.
Authorities have asked that you please find an alternate route until they can get it cleared.
In Mississippi, DeSoto County is not reporting any accidents or major backups, but there is a major accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer that has southbound I-55 shut down near Pope, Mississippi.
Memphis Area Transit Authority says Routes 6 and 18 will not run and other routes may be slow.

Due to icy conditions on G.E. Patterson and Vance Streets, MATA announced it is detouring all buses off Front Street in both directions.
The snow winter flurry caused multi traffic accidents across the interstate.
Jason Arrington witnessed the multi-car pileup first had.
Arlington wrote on that 18 semi’s and 8 passenger vehicles were involved.
Tennessee Highway Patrol tweeted out Friday evening that the National Guard has been called to assist in clearing the multi-car pileup on I-40 in Decature County.
