GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — A Germantown family was shocked after they said their garbage men sat on their block for hours, trying to waste time until their shift ended.
The men simply stated they didn’t make enough money and sat there until it started to get dark.
The family were able to snap a photo and send it to WREG.
This was just the latest complaint of hundreds about Inland workers.
From knocking cans over to leaving garbage behind both in and out of the cans, we’ve heard it all.
“On Saturday mornings I come and clean up the cove. I sweep, rake. I clean up the yard waste and get the broom and clean up all the glass that’s been broken,” one local told WREG.
“They’ve been lying out there, getting smelly and piling up for three weeks. That’s disappointing,” another said.
The company is already halfway through a 60 day ‘notice’ to get their act together, and so far things look like they haven’t turned around.
In July, almost 300 people called in a complaint saying their garbage wasn’t picked up properly or even at all.
“We’re watching the number closely and will meet with them before the 60 days are up,” said Mayor Mike Palazzolo.
Palazzolo was out of town on Friday but said if Inland doesn’t improve they’ll find someone else, or maybe even the city will do the job.
He said the last option could very very costly, but maybe worth it to Germantown residents.
“They`re very happy with fire, police and ambulance and the one thing that`s constant with all those, we provide that service in house. That might help you understand things a little bit. We`ll look at it,” he said.
