MEMPHIS, Tenn. — WREG Investigators have uncovered new information regarding a Millington Central High School girls’ basketball coach who is off the job and under investigation.
Coach Jason Nichols is on unpaid leave, according to the Millington superintendent, following allegations of misconduct with students.
Parents are now coming forward with stories of inappropriate conduct by Coach Nichols, saying he touched players between their thighs, rubbed their thighs, and even jumped in bed with one player at an away game.
“It’s sad. And I think, also hurtful for the young ladies,” said one parent.
“You entrust them with your daughter, and they’re supposed to be the second parent. And to see that they would break that bond and that trust that the parents create within each other is heartbreaking,” said another parent.
Some parents have even pressed charges.
WREG obtained a police report showing that officers were at Millington Central High last Wednesday, and Jason Nichols was one of the people they talked to.
On Wednesday, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office sent us a statement confirming they are investigating “alleged misconduct of a teacher involving multiple students at Millington Central High School,” but they are unable to comment any further.
WREG Investigators have also confirmed that the Millington School System has opened a Title 9 investigation based on allegations made against Coach Nichols.

Tuesday afternoon, following our questions, the Millington School System sent families an email notification saying, “appropriate steps are being taken and the employee is not participating in any school-related events or activities, on or off campus.”
Parents, who are calling for accountability, want to make sure this time their ongoing complaints about Coach Nichols aren’t swept under the rug.
“They should not be able to work at a school after something like this is brought up,” said a parent.
