MILLINGTON, Tenn. — A Millington coach is off the job and under fire for what he is accused of doing to players.

Millington School’s Superintendent confirmed to WREG that there is an investigation underway. It was parents who first sounded the alarm to WREG Investigators.

They didn’t want to show their faces, but they wanted to speak up about what they call inappropriate conduct at Millington High School.

“I was upset for sure,” a parent told WREG.

Their children play for the school’s girls’ basketball team. They said what was happening at the school was anything but sportsmanlike, starting with an inappropriate handshake.

“I believe the middle finger or index finger was used to rub the inside of the palm, which made it, I guess, a handshake of sexual intent,” the parent said.

They said that the inappropriate touching wasn’t all.

“I have heard about Coach touching young ladies between their thighs, on their thighs, rubbing their thighs, jumping in their beds at away games,” the parent said.

When the parents learned other students were having even more problems, they went to school leaders.

“I’ve even heard that one of the girls brought it to the principal before and some way it got back to the coach and she was told that no matter who you tell is going to get back – my job is secure,” the parent said. “So, I’m thinking that it’s bringing a lot of fear amongst the girls to come forward.”

Parents here at Millington told us more than anything, they want accountability for someone they trusted with their kids.

WREG reached out to the superintendent of Millington Schools, and he refused to do an interview.

Instead, he confirmed in a statement that an investigation is underway and that the coach has been placed on leave without pay until it’s complete.

In part, saying, “We will take further action as appropriate once the investigation is complete. We take this matter very serious.”

However, parents wonder just how serious since they said they have complained about this coach before.

This time, they hope it’s different.

“Be forthcoming with what’s going on and not try to cover it up,” a parent said. “Handle the situation and not just move these people to another school.”

“Hold Coach accountable. Hold this staff accountable,” another parent said. “Whoever wasn’t there to protect these women, these young ladies, hold them accountable to what’s right.”

The parents said they filed a report with the Sheriff’s Department’s School Resource Officer.

WREG reached out to the Sheriff’s Office, but we’re told they could not give any information if they do have an investigation underway.
