PANOLA COUNTY, Miss. — Jessica Chambers’ mother sat down with WREG to set the record straight about rumors attacking the teenager’s family.

Lisa Chambers said there have been many people online pointing the finger at Jessica’s father, Ben Chambers.

She said he’s dealt with some legal issues, but there’s no truth to those rumors.

“That man would not hurt that child for anything, and it’s just ridiculous that they would even think so,” Chambers said.

Chambers said some rumors have also targeted her, suggesting she’s a gang member.

She said she’s aware that gangs exist in Panola County, but she is absolutely not a part of one.

“Do I know members and all that? No, and I am not a gang member,” Chambers said.

She also set the record straight about her daughter’s past relationships. She believes her daughter had at least two abusive boyfriends over time.

Without any arrests or answers, Chambers has not yet been able to properly grieve Jessica’s death.

The reward for information is $43,000.
