Jessica Chambers’ mother: teen working to improve herself before her death

PANOLA COUNTY, Miss. — Jessica Chambers’ mother, Lisa, said her daughter was working on improving herself a short time before her death.

Investigators have not released much information at all about the 19-year-old since her murder in early December.

Chambers confirmed her daughter briefly stayed at a women’s restoration home called, “Leah’s House” in Oakland, Mississippi.

Chambers said her daughter was trying to work on some anger issues, “Within that time, she was a total different child. When she come home, she was completely different.”

She said when Jessica returned home, she got a job, and she did not argue with people.

Leah’s House Director Michelle Moyers would not confirm whether or not Jessica received treatment at the facility because of privacy issues.

She explained that the home helps around seven or eight women at a time, with a focus on religion and the Bible.

“We try to help women that seem to have no hope, no peace, just kind of fallen down in life, and we just try to help restore them, you know, back to hope,” Moyers said.

Chambers said her daughter was trying to live a better life at the time someone stole her life away.

The reward for information is $43,000.
