LOS ANGELES — Actor Jim Carrey is mourning the loss of his on-again, off-again girlfriend, who died of an apparent suicide Monday night, reported CBS Los Angeles.

An Irish native, Cathriona White was found inside a home by a friend Monday night, the station reported.

Pills were found near the makeup artist, along with a note addressed to Carrey reported TMZ.

They reported the note had references to the couple’s most recent breakup on September 24.

That very same night, White posted a tweet that said, ” Signing of Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.”

An official cause of death will not be released until an autopsy is conducted.

Carrey released a statement on Tuesday saying he was “shocked and saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona.”

“She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled,” he said. “My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit by a lightning bolt.”

According to People Magazine, the duo met in 2012 on a film set and dated throughout 2013. They then went separate ways before rekindling their relationship earlier this year.

The pair was together in New York on September 16.
