GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — A call about counterfeit currency at a Waffle House ended with four officers injured and shots fired at a fleeing suspect Tuesday night.
Germantown Police were called to the Waffle House on Germantown Road and Wolf River Boulevard around 10. The restaurant said a woman had tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill.
Police said when they got there, suspect Chelse Chambers, 23, attempted to drive away in a Nissan Altima. In the process, they say she struck an officer’s vehicle.
When that officer got out of his vehicle, police say Chambers hit him with her car. The officer shot at Chambers, who got away.
That led to a chase to an address on Silverleaf Cove in Hickory Hill, where police said Chambers pinned another officer against a vehicle.
The second officer then fired at Chambers. No one was hit in either shooting, police said.
At that point, officers got into Chambers’ car, pulled her out through a window and took her into custody.
Yalanda Faulkner says running from police is the worst thing she have done.
“They’re going to get the last say over everything. They’re going to catch you.”
Chambers’ car had to be moved to free the pinned officer, police said.
Four officers were treated for injuries at Germantown Methodist Hospital and released.
Chambers is charged in Germantown with aggravated assault, forgery, evading arrest, leaving the scene of a crash involving injury and reckless driving. She is being held in the Germantown Jail and will be transferred to 201 Poplar.
