Several people, including minors, arrested in South Memphis as part of stolen property investigation

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Several people, including three minors, were arrested early Friday morning as part of a stolen property investigation along Preston Street in South Memphis. One of the suspects is even facing an attempted murder charge.

Memphis Police say eight people were arrested after police executed a search warrant at 1388 Preston and recovered multiple weapons, more than 200 grams of marijuana, nearly $4,700 in cash, four stolen 60-inch televisions and a stolen Dodge Ram.

Police say the televisions were stolen from box cars at CSX Rail Railroad on February 4, and the Dodge Ram was taken from Ridgeway Station during a burglary. Memphis Police say these arrests will clear at least 19 vehicle burglary cases out of Ridgeway Station and one train burglary Crump Station was investigating.

A 15-year-old boy was among those arrested. He’s been charged with theft of property in connection with the train robbery, five counts of possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

Two 17-year-olds were also arrested, police say. They’ve both been charged with multiple counts of theft of property in regards to the train robbery, five counts each of possession of a firearm in commission of a dangerous felony and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

One of the 17-year-olds is also facing 140 counts of vandalism and 140 counts of auto burglary.

Memphis Police have identified the following adult suspects:

Our crews spotted at least 14 squad cars belonging to the Memphis Police Department and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Crime scene tape was set up and a crime scene investigation team was called in to assist.

WREG’s Symone Woolridge said police pulled several TV boxes out of the home and put them on the porch. They also pulled out other electronics and monitors.

At least five people were taken away in MPD cars.

This is a developing story.
