BATON ROUGE, La. — Les Miles has been fired as head coach of the LSU Tigers, multiple media outlets are reporting.
Ed Orgeron, the Tigers’ current defensive line coach and a former head coach for the Ole Miss Rebels, will step in as the interim head coach, according to the Advocate.
Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron was also fired, the Advocate reported.
The move comes a day after LSU lost 18-13 to conference opponent Auburn.
The Tigers have started the 2016 season 2-2, with wins against Jacksonville State and Mississippi State and losses to Wisconsin and Auburn.
This is LSU’s worst start ever under Miles, who has been with the Tigers since 2005.
According to the Advocate, there were talks to fire Miles after a three-game losing streak at the end of last season, but LSU President F. King Alexander didn’t let it happen.
Alexander joined athletic director Joe Alleva and other school officials Sunday to make the decision to get rid of Miles and Cameron.
