Fewer students defaulting on loans

(Washington, D.C.) Fewer borrowers are defaulting on their federal student loans.

The U.S. Department of Education reports 13.7% of students have defaulted on their federal loans within three years of their first payment.

That’s an improvement from 14.7% last year, but it’s still pretty high.

Borrowers go into default when they miss payments for 270 consecutive days.
