MEMPHIS, Tenn. –Lifeblood is asking for those with O-negative blood to donate.

There is a severe shortage of O-negative due to a number of accidents in the last few weeks.

“Our community is now in an extremely critical shortage and Lifeblood is asking all O-negative donors to help stabilize the community blood supply and support local hospitals. O-negative blood is the universal blood type often used in emergency situations.”

You may donate at one of Lifeblood’s five neighborhood donor centers located in Midtown, East Memphis, Bartlett, Germantown and Southaven.

Appointments may be made, but walk-ins are also accepted.

Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 115 lbs. and be in generally good health.
