Portions of Interstate 40 between West Memphis and Little Rock are closed due to accidents and/or worsening road conditions.
The Shelby County Division of Corrections Video Visitation is suspended. They will resume their regular schedule on Monday, February 22.
Update from Memphis International Airport”
- The airport is currently experiencing a loss of water pressure, which has resulted in the closure of most restrooms on the ticketing level. MLGW is investigating. Restrooms are operational on the baggage level. Restaurants are currently closed due to the water pressure issue, but some retail shops remain open.
- MEM continues to be open with flights arriving and departing, though airlines schedules continue to be affected by the weather. Passengers should continue to check with their airlines for the most up-to-date information.
- Airport crews continue to work continuously to ensure that runways, taxiways and other surface areas are clear of snow and ice.
- We anticipate continuing winter operations into the weekend.
- The runways at General DeWitt Spain Airport and Charles W Baker Airports are closed, but DeWitt Spain has fueling available for helicopters.
WREG’s Mike Ceide says the Memphis Grizzlies/Oklahoma City Thunder game scheduled for Wednesday at the FedEx Forum will be played without fans.

WREG’s Stacy Jacobson reported MLGW says there are no threats of electrical outages in their service area right now.
“We have not been contacted by TVA about any reliability issues and are not asking people to conserve electricity or planning rolling brown outs,” MLGW said in a statement.
Memphis International is experiencing water pressure issues, resulting in their restaurants being closed along with many of their bathrooms on the ticketing level. Flights are arriving and departing as of 10:40 a.m. Passengers should check with their airlines on the status of their flights before leaving home.
MATA has decided to limit its routes due to the weather conditions Wednesday. The only routes in service will be 11, 28, 32, 40 and 50, and they will be in service until 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. MATA Plus will be in operation for life sustaining trips until 6:45 p.m. as well.
A decision about services on Thursday will be made at a later time.
Dr. Ben Figura with the West Tennessee Regional Forensic Center says they are investigating three possible hypothermia-related deaths in Shelby County.
FedEx has confirmed frozen pipes have caused problems at the World Hub in Memphis.
WREG received several calls about a water outage at the facility early Wednesday morning.
A FedEx spokesperson released a statement saying, “The safety and well-being of our team members continues to be our top priority throughout this period of prolonged severe weather. We have experienced impacts from this weather at the Memphis hub, including intermittent issues with frozen pipes affecting some areas. We have contingency plans in place to ensure all our team members have access to functioning restrooms.”
FedEx said the problems caused significant disruptions which will potentially cause service delays.
Water outages have become a problem for the area with MLGW urging residents to conserve as much of it as they can as winter storms impact the area.
They asked everyone to reduce their water usage starting Wednesday and into Friday or they could be dealing with a water shortage.
They offered the following tips on how to do that:
- Wash dishes by hand
- Don’t let the water run while getting ready
- Keep showers short
- Don’t wash your clothes for the next couple of days
- Drip faucets rather than run a small, steady stream
