MEMPHIS, Tenn. –Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said the drive-by shooting that left a 7-year-old girl dead was drug and gang related.

Kirsten Williams was playing outside April 10 when she was shot in the head and killed.

It’s believed the shooting is related to a shooting the night before of a 22-year-old man.

Carl Johnson, 19, Jordan Clayton, 21, and Branden Brookins, 19, are charged with first-degree murder in the case.

Director Armstrong also made it clear homicide investigators are still working to solve another drive-by shooting.

Cateria Stokes, 15, was shot and killed while she slept in her bed at a home on Cottonwood April 9.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Armstrong said, “We will turn over every rock, do everything we can do to finish that investigation”During a news conference, Armstrong said his department is working hard to get gangs off the streets, “There will not be a gang in this city that has more power than the Memphis Police Department.”
