SAVANNAH, Tenn. — Defendant Zach Adams’ ex-girlfriend provided some huge testimony Tuesday in the second day of the murder trial of Holly Bobo.
Adams is accused of kidnapping, raping, drugging and murdering the 20-year-old nursing student in April 2011. Her body was discovered more than three years later near her home in Decatur County.
Rebecca Earp described Adams becoming addicted to drugs after his grandma passed away and said he had a very bad temper.
But the most startling testimony of it all so far is from the day Holly Bobo disappeared and shortly after.
She said Adams told her he was going to haul scrap metal the morning Bobo disappeared — but she didn’t believe him.
She said he was using his brother’s phone, which was unusual, and he came back with scratches on his neck later that afternoon.
She said later in time, Bobo`s disappearance was on the news and Adams and his friend laughed at it and said police would never find her.
She describes a volatile relationship with Adams that would often end in fights with him.
“He said he would tie me up just like he did Holly Bobo and no one would ever see me again,” she said.
We’ve also heard from investigators today on where they started in the investigation with suspects.
They looked at those closest to the case in terms of people who saw or heard something the morning Bobo disappeared.
But then agents widened their search to nearby sex offenders and criminals.
They crossed Adams` path since he had a known criminal history.
“He kept telling me he didn’t have anything to do with it, that his girlfriend turned him in,” said Warren Rainey with Tennessee Highway Patrol. “And I could tell he was visually shaken. You could tell he was scared.”
