MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The local man accused of forcing his way into a hotel room was convicted of aggravated burglary.
Ellis Johnson,37, now faces 10 to 15 years in prison.
According to reports, Johnson forced his way into the room of two Arkansas women after following them off the elevator at the Westin Hotel back in 2013.
One of the victims screamed for the other to call the police, and then turned on Johnson; beating him with her purse until he fled.
Police found Johnson a short time later casing cars along South Main.
It took jurors 30 minutes to convict him on Tuesday.
According to investigators, Johnson has seven prior felony convictions.
He is scheduled to be back in court for sentencing on May 8.
