MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Blue Bell recalled all of its products after ice cream from multiple plants tested positive for listeria.

This bacteria can make you really sick.

Local stores didn’t wasting any time.

The freezer shelves were empty at Miss Cordelia’s.

David Henson noticed the changes this morning.

“It’s kind of weird seeing an entire ice cream section completely empty,” he said.

Normally the store managers set aside more than half their freezer space for Blue Bell, but all that product was packed up and ready to send back to the distributor.

The company decided to recall everything after more products from multiple plants tested positive for Listeria.

“We pulled ours and put it in the back freezer so they can do what they want with it,” said Ronie Clem, the manager of the store in Harbor Town.

Listeria is a bacterial infection that can make you vomit or have diarrhea.

Little kids, pregnant women and the elderly are especially at risk.

The outbreak has already killed three people in Kansas.

After weeks of recalling certain items, the company decided to go ahead and pull everything.

Henson acknowledged this costs the company but said, “I appreciate them wanting to be on the safe side, wanting to make sure no one else gets sick and protect everybody.”

People we spoke to said they don’t know how long this will last but they hope the recall doesn’t destroy a brand they love.

“We will start buying it once it’s safe to buy again. As far as our customers? Only time will tell,” Clem explained.

If you recently purchased this product take it back to the store and they will give you a refund.
