MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One man is dead, and another is in custody after a shooting occurred in Nutbush Thursday morning.

Memphis Police responded to the shooting a little after 6 a.m. in the 1900 block of Davis Circle.

One man was pronounced dead on the scene. Another was detained.

Joseph Hibler, the Public Information Officer with MPD, said, “[The victim]was inside of a residence, but at this time as far as what actually occurred at the moment– that’s under investigation.”

Neighbors told WREG that the person who stayed at the home was new to the neighborhood. “They haven’t been staying there that long. They just moved in probably less than six months, the neighbor said.

Officers say the male detained is known to the victim. They are still investigating.
