HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — One man is dead and three others were injured in a shooting Monday night in Holly Springs, Mississippi, authorities say.

The Marshall County coroner says the shooting took place around 10:40 on Highway 178. Officers said the initial call was for an accident but found the vehicle shot several times when they arrived.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff, the driver of the car ran off the road while being shot at. The car flipped multiple times and landed upside down.

Almost 30 shell casings were found in the road.

The victims’ ages were 21, 19, 18 and 18.

Cameron Namond Faulkner, age 21, was pronounced dead at the Alliance Healthcare Hospital.

“We have a family that’s mourning the loss of a 21 year old,” the sheriff said. “Just turned 21 years old the 26th of this month and now he’s gone.”

The three other victims were taken to Regional One hospital.

One has since been released, and another one remains in the hospital on life support. The fourth gunshot victim is also still in the hospital.

According to the sheriff, one victim was struck by gunfire four times. Another victim was struck twice, and the other two victims were struck once.
