MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are looking for a suspect they say stole $50,000 in copper from Beale Street Landing earlier this week.

Monday morning, officers responded to an incident at Beale Street Landing. A property director said someone stole $50,000 worth of copper from inside the control room on the boating dock.

The suspect reportedly entered the control room through a ceiling hatch.

On July 27, the director said he was walking the boat dock when he noticed several hand tools located near a ceiling hatch.

No arrests have been made.

Officials say the last time a riverboat cruise used the downtown docking facility was August 2023; cruise ships now dock on Mud Island. A renovation is planned for the structure.
