MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A police chase ended in a crash in Southwest Memphis early Wednesday morning, Memphis Police confirm.
Officers say that around 3:25 a.m., they responded to a weapon law violation/felony at the Freeway Market on 4046 Horn Lake Road.
That is when they noticed a suspicious vehicle with its windows broken out and taped up. Upon running the vehicle’s tags, officers determined it had been stolen during an armed robbery on Airways.
When the officers walked up to the vehicle to clear it, the driver drove off, going north on Horn Lake Road. That is when a chase was initiated.
According to reports, officers continued to pursue the vehicle and were able to catch up to it at West Levi Road and Weaver Road. The stolen vehicle then crashed into a pole.

Memphis Police said the driver and another suspect were taken into custody at the scene.
One of the suspects told police he ran because he had a gun. Police say a Taurus G2C was found on the driver-side floorboard. A bag with a white powder and rocky substance, later identified as fentanyl and cocaine, was also found in the suspect’s pocket.

Police said records showed that the suspect was a convicted felon.
Both adult suspects were taken to area hospitals due to injuries from the crash. The suspects’ identities have not yet been released.
