MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis woman is facing charges after she was accused of stealing money from a woman who had hired her as a caretaker.
Memphis Police have arrested 30-year-old Laquita Pollion. Pollion has been charged with theft of property, fraudulent use of a credit/debit card, identity theft, and financial exploitation of a vulnerable and/or elderly adult.
Court documents state that the victim filed a police report on December 27, 2024.
According to police, the 78-year-old victim told officers that she had hired Pollion to help care for her son. Sometime after she was hired, Pollion allegedly told the victim that the agency was “messing up her hours” and that she was unable to pay her car note.
The victim reportedly told investigators that after that conversation with Pollion, money started to come up missing from the victim’s bank account. Court documents say that the victim noticed that money had been sent to CashApp accounts.
According to court documents, on February 6, investigators received documents showing that Pollion was the owner of the CashApp accounts. Police say that Pollion transferred funds from the victim’s account to her CashApp accounts from December 3 to December 24, 2024.
Pollion is accused of stealing a total of $3,618.27. She is expected to be in court on Monday.
