MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Do you want to be a part of a prime-time TV sitcom?

A casting company is seeking background actors in Memphis for the NBC sitcom “Young Rock.”

On Location Casting is looking for extras and a male to play a stand-in for The Rock.

Premiering its third season in November, the sitcom is based on the life of actor and professional wrestler, Dwayne Johnson, also known as ‘The Rock.’

The sitcom’s third season is set to be filmed in the Bluff City, beginning next week.

Memphis and Shelby County Film Commissioner Linn Sitler said “Young Rock” is expected to have a huge economic impact for the city. More than 50 members of the production staff are from Memphis or Shelby County, and 75% of the crew must be from Tennessee in order for the show to make use of a new state tax credit.

Sitler says the new incentives were part of what lured the production to move from Australia to Memphis. “Young Rock” will be the first major Tennessee production to use the incentives.

Another factor was that NBC’s senior vice president of production had a positive experience in Memphis working on the short-lived “Bluff City Law” series. Sitler said that helped put Memphis on the map for this project.

Filming will begin on the next few days and will continue through February.
