Child sent to hospital after incident with school bus

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A child was sent to the hospital Tuesday after an incident involving a school bus in Cordova.


Memphis Police said it happened at the intersection of Trinity Road and Shelby Grove Drive. The child was transported to Baptist and is in non-critical condition.

Memphis-Shelby County Schools released the following statement:

“Upon exiting the bus, the student either walked into the bus stop arm or the student fell without contact. The student walked away after the incident. We’re reviewing additional footage to gather more information. Out of an abundance of caution, the student was transported to the hospital.”

Police said there were people on the bus when the child was struck.
