Elementary school student hit by car in Midtown: MSCS

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis Shelby County School elementary student was injured after a hit-and-run near the school in Midtown early Wednesday morning, according to the school district.

MSCS says the Bruce Elementary School student was hit by a vehicle, and a witness notified the Memphis Police Department for assistance during that time.

Officers say that a little after 8 a.m., they responded to the scene in the 500 block of South Bellevue Boulevard, which is across the street from the elementary school.

Police also say the driver did not stay on the scene.

The child was then taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in non-critical condition and has since been released in good condition.
