MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Whitehaven funeral home was intentionally set of fire overnight Thursday.

Fire investigators were at the scene outside of the MJ Edwards Funeral Home building on Elvis Presley around 1 a.m.

According to MFD, the fire was set at the rear exterior of the building. Officials say the fire damaged two rooms of the funeral home.

The flames caused nearly $25,000 in damage.

M.J. Edwards released this statement to WREG:

The cause of the fire is still unknown and we are working with the appropriate officials to determine the exact cause. Despite damages to the funeral home, we are able to continue upcoming services. We are grateful to our local first responders who responded quickly to the incident. We look forward to continuing to serve our client families.
