Graduation rates rise for most local TN school districts

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — New figures from the Tennessee Department of Education show graduation rates are up in most Mid-South school districts.

In the metro area, Memphis-Shelby County Schools saw their graduation rate for the 2023-2024 school year go up by nearly 3% compared to the previous school year. The MSCS graduation rate is 82.8%.


Germantown and Millington schools also saw their graduation rates increase, with both districts climbing above 90%.

Graduation rates fell slightly in Arlington, Bartlett and Collierville, but those districts are still above the statewide average of 92.1%.

The lowest graduation rates were in Fayette County and Haywood County, both with rates just over 86%. The Achievement School District, a state-run turnaround program for low-performing schools mainly in Memphis, had a 55.5% graduation rate.

Outside the metro area, Dyersburg and Jackson-Madison County schools saw the biggest increases, with Dyersburg jumping almost 12% to 93.5%.
