MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police have charged a third murder suspect in the deadly shooting of a Memphis pastor.
Eduard Rodriguez Tabora, 20, now faces murder charges after Pastor Autura Eason-Williams was found shot after a carjacking outside of her Whitehaven home on July 18.
She was rushed to the hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Police say security video showed the suspects follow Eason-Williams and park on the street in a Hyundai Veloster as she pulled into her driveway.
Two masked males then got out of the car, ran up to Eason-Williams and one of the suspects shot her several times while she was still inside her Infiniti Q50. He then pulled her out of her car, got in the driver’s seat, and drove away.
Police said there were 6 shell casings left on the scene.
Rodriguez Tabora was taken into custody on Tuesday where he admitted to being with the two teens at the time of the fatal shooting. He told officers one of the teens was driving the Hyundai while the other juvenile ran to the driver’s side of Eason-Williams’ Infiniti.
According to the police report, Rodriguez Tabora admitted he was the suspect that ran to the passenger’s side of the Infiniti while wearing a face mask and gloves. He said after the shooting he ran back to the Hyundai and fled the scene with another juvenile who was driving.
Police say the gun Tabora was armed with at the time was also recovered.
The first adult charged in this investigation, Rodriguez Tabora, is now facing first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, and employment of a firearm with intent to commit a felony.
There is no bond information set for the suspect at this time.
Last week, two 15-year-olds were also charged with first-degree murder in the pastor’s killing.
A 16-year-old was charged in connection with the carjacking in the investigation.
A 17-year-old was arrested but was released without charges.
