MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 22-year-old is charged with attempted murder after police say he shot at four people in a Millington apartment complex on Tuesday.

According to Memphis Police, around 1 a.m. officers responded to the Millington Oaks Apartments at 4916 Navy Road regarding shots being fired.

Four victims located at the scene told police that they were sitting outside when a man walked up to them. That is when the suspect and the victims began to exchange words.

At that time, the suspect pulled out a handgun and started shooting at the victims, police say.

Investigators say they located six spent 9mm rounds at the scene where the shooting took place.

On July 2, at 2:30 p.m., officers say one of the victims called to report the shooting suspect walking around the same apartment complex.

Officers arrived at the scene and were able to detain the suspect, later identified as Cameron Wheeler.

Investigators say that three of the victims positively identified Wheeler in a six-person photo lineup as the shooting suspect.

Cameron Wheeler is charged with four counts of criminal attempt second-degree murder, four counts of possession of a firearm/commission of a felony, and a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

Wheeler is set to appear before a judge on Friday morning. He is held in jail on a $500,000 bond.
