MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A plea for justice Saturday night from a Memphis mom after her 16-year-old son was shot and killed in a shooting in north Memphis.

Memphis police say they were on the scene of a shooting at 2153 Hunter Ave.

According to police, a man was pronounced dead at the scene and one person was transported to Regional One in critical condition.

Family members have identified the victim who died as 16-year-old Emmit Beasley.

His mother Chasity Graham said the shooting happened during a funeral procession for another young man, who also lost his life to violence.

“We was out here, paying respects to a friend of his — another young man who’s life was cut short for senseless — I mean we were in a funeral procession — a funeral procession. I just sat in a church and prayed because I felt the mother’s pain not knowing less than 30 minutes from leaving that church — I would take her place — my son would get killed at her son’s funeral,” she said.

Graham said her son was a student at Southwind High School and an up and coming rapper known as PSO Emmit.

She also said her 15-year-old nephew was the other victim.

Police say the suspects fled the scene in a black Jeep and they are still on the run.
