MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A suspect is on the run after a man was shot Tuesday night at the Serenity Towers apartments, Memphis Police say.

Officers responded to the shooting at 400 South Highland Street at 6:28 p.m. The victim was located and taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.

The 53-year-old victim told police someone knocked on his apartment door. When he opened the door, a man he identified as “Lucky” fired a shot, hitting him in the leg, and ran away.

The victim said he’d been in a heated argument the day before with Lucky, who was dating the man’s ex-girlfriend.

The argument then escalated with the suspect stating he was going to go to the victim’s home to shoot him.

Police say the suspect fled the scene in a blue Chrysler 300.

Joe Chaney, a man with an older sister who lives in Serenity Towers, says he is concerned about her safety.

“It started out being a good place. Now, it’s kind of deteriorated to all the news and everything,” Chaney said. “So, my family and I are really concerned about her.”
