MEMPHIS, Tenn.– A man was shot during a carjacking in East Memphis Thursday afternoon.
Crime scene investigators were seen rolling into the 3-Minute Carwash after a carjacking and shooting at the express wash.
Around 2:41 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at the intersection of Getwell Road and Rhodes Avenue.
Investigators said a 24-year-old man was vacuuming out his car when two men shot him and took off in his black 2006 Infiniti G35 bearing TN tag BKQ-0728.
The victim was shot in the hip. He was transported to Regional One in critical condition.
Detectives said the suspects were caught on surveillance video at a nearby fire station arriving at the scene in a Dodge Journey matching the description of another vehicle that was carjacked.
The gunmen were allegedly in the backseat with a male driver and female passenger in the front.
As police search for clues to identify the suspects, those in the area are once again questioning their safety.
“I been here 20 years. I come from California, and these are the worst streets ever you can walk onto,” said Ana Jiminez who lives in the area. “It’s always somebody dead or injured you know it’s a really bad area”
