UPDATE: Markevious Robinson has been taken into custody, according to the Panola County Sheriff’s Office.

Robinson was arrested on Draper St. in Batesville Thursday afternoon with the assistance of the Batesville Police Department, Panola County Emergency Operations, and the USMS Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

PANOLA COUNTY, Miss. — A multi-agency search was underway Wednesday for a suspect on parole who is accused of shooting his father in the back in Panola County.

Panola County deputies are searching for Markevious Robinson, who is said to be armed and dangerous.

Robinson is wanted not only in connection with the shooting that happened Tuesday, but other crimes including possible child abuse and armed robbery.

Law enforcement said Robinson allegedly shot his father on Tuesday at a mobile home off of Shiloh Road between Batesville and Courtland.

A neighbor who doesn’t want to be identified was with her family when violence erupted.

“We heard a gunshot. So I quickly went back to my back bedroom window and looked out the window, and when I looked out the window I saw his dog running from behind the house, like somebody was shooting at the dog,” the neighbor said.

She said in a matter of moments, she heard a second shot.

“We haven’t had anything like this to happen in this neighborhood, ever, and so that’s just like a scare to me,” she said.

Details on what caused the shooting were not released but we’re told the victim was transported a hospital in Memphis.

“I hope he just turns his self in,” Panola County Sheriff Shane Phelps said. “That’s what I hope he does. Just comes in and turns his self in. I don’t want anyone else in the county being harmed by him.”
