MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A teen girl who was shot to death Wednesday was identified by a family member Friday.
Seventeen-year-old Corteria Wright was killed Wednesday, her aunt confirmed.
Memphis Police say Corteria was shot in the 800 block of West Raines Road. According to police, officers found Corteria at a fire station on Horn Lake Road.
She was transported to a hospital, where she later died.
Memphis Police initially said Corteria was one of the four people killed in Wednesday night’s shooting rampage. Friday evening, Memphis Police announced that she was not a victim of the mass shooting, and that she was shot by another suspect.
Wright is being remembered by her father as a person destined for greatness. In a statement, he said, “She was so full of joy and life and had plans for her future. BayBay always had a huge smile on her face and was always laughing and joking around. An intelligent young lady who is now gone for no reason.”
