There will be two chances for visitation.

Next Wednesday and Thursday, the viewing will be held at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Highway 64. Wednesday, it will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday, it will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The funeral will be held at the same location Thursday at 11 a.m.

Officer Johnson is set to be buried at the Memorial Park Cemetry on Poplar Avenue following the service.

Officer Johnson, 34, was with MPD for over a year, having graduated from the academy in March 2024, MPD says.

On August 2, a little after 3:06 a.m., a gray Nissan collided with an MPD squad car on Danny Thomas Boulevard and Mississippi Boulevard.

A second officer remains in “very serious condition” after the crash. Tuesday, Memphis City Councilman Ford Canale identified the officer as Bobby Fields.

Rantavious Johnson was also pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he had been shot after getting into a disagreement with another person near South Parkway, before driving a distance and colliding with the police vehicle.
