MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The head of the Corinth School District was fired after a middle school teacher was arrested on child porn charges.

The board of trustees voted unanimously to terminate the contract of Dr. Lee Childress as superintendent.

In a statement, they say students’ safety and well-being are their greatest priorities, and that they are “heartbroken over the pain caused to these young victims and their families over the incident with a former teacher at Corinth Middle School.”

The now former teacher they are referring to is Wilson Jones.

He was arrested last week for allegedly using Artificial Intelligence to morph pictures of several students in his class and use them to create sexually explicit material.

According to court documents, Dr. Childress knew about it back in November but did not notify the Mississippi Department of Education until January.

Parents we spoke with say this is concerning.

“We need to know. We need to know what’s going on at our schools and with our children, and not only our own but anybody else’s children,” said Jasmica Wade.

The board says they are working to implement new policies designed to prevent a similar incident from happening again.
