MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person is dead after a shooting at an apartment complex in downtown Memphis.

Officers responded to a shooting at Patterson Flats on GE Patterson near Hernando Street at around 8:18 p.m. Sunday night.

Memphis Police say one man was pronounced dead on the scene.

“It’s summertime. I don’t think this is the end of it.” resident Linda Brooks said.

A witness who did not want to be on camera says she heard what sounded like an argument followed by five gunshots.

She says she saw a small child run out of this door followed by a man. The witness says the two ran inside a red car that was waiting outside the apartment complex and was driven by a woman.

She says the man fired one shot into the building as he was running away.

Immediately after they left, she says another man and woman ran out of the building.

The witness says that man was bleeding heavily.

This shooting happened less than 24-hours after another shooting in the downtown area. People we spoke to who live downtown say these acts of violence are getting out of hand and quite frankly, they say they’re scared.

So far, no arrests have been made in any of these shootings. If you know anything, contact Crimestoppers at 528-CASH.
