MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police are looking for three suspects who they say are responsible for a shooting in Whitehaven Saturday night.

Officers said the incident happened around 7:45 p.m. on the 3600 block of Eglesfield Drive at New Horizon River Apartments where two men were shot.

Both men were taken to the hospital. One man was listed in non-critical condition.

Another man was pronounced dead at the hospital. The man who did not share his name is telling us he was with the victim who did not survive.

“Moments before this happened,” he said. “He would give you the shirt off his back. If you needed something, call him.”

The victim who was fatally shot did not live at the apartments. WREG was told he was visiting and maybe even doing what he often did: helping someone in need. The man we spoke with said he knew the man fatally shot for more than five years, considering him to be more like family.

“I’m going to miss my brother,” he said. “He gave me everything I wanted, anything. He just helped me pay my light bill like last month. Good, good man who left kids behind. It wasn’t right.”

Police said they are looking for three black men in dark clothing as suspects in the shooting. There is the chance the wrongdoers may have been captured on nearby cameras.

This is an ongoing investigation. If you have any information about this incident, call (901)-528-CASH.
