MEMPHIS, Tenn.– A young boy was injured in a shooting in Berclair Wednesday afternoon.
Memphis Police responded to a shooting in the 4100 block of Macon Road just before 6 p.m. The victim was transported to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in non-critical condition.
MPD says the child was walking down the sidewalk when a green mustang abruptly stopped in the middle of the road. A witness says someone got out of the passenger side and fired a single shot at the child before driving off.
Residents say they are in fear for their children’s lives.
“People in the neighborhood do the best they can but you can’t fight no gun,” one neighbor said.
When Memphis police officers found the victim, he was sitting on the sidewalk and the intersection of Macon and Graham street. He told officers, according to reports, he had no idea why the suspects targeted him
While police say this young man is going to be ok, the same cannot be said for so many others.

According to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, they’ve treated 130 gunshot wound patients this year.
